Environmental Overview

Philip Payne Ltd are committed to the environment.

  • We are fully aware of our responsibilities to discharge our obligations under the UK WEEE regulations 2006 (SI3289) and the EC WEEE directive.
  • Our WEEE Producer Registration is WEEE/DK0073UQ and we are registered with the Lumicom Compliance Scheme (
  • Philip Payne are members of the Lighting Industry Association ( and the Industry Committee for Emergency Lighting ( to remain informed on technical issues that could benefit the environment.
  • Our new production site was selected over other more suited sites because of its location which allowed current employees to walk or cycle to work and because its unusual low ceiling height construction affords energy savings over more conventional modern industrial unit design with high roofs.
  • We encourage download of PDF versions of our product literature in favour of hard copy catalogues. We use loose publications in a binder to minimise impact of new product literature and to avoid waste where obsolescence occurs.
  • We embrace new lamp and LED technology wherever possible to extend product life and minimise service/ maintenance issues.
  • Incoming packaging and pallets used in production are recycled where possible for further use.
  • All unwanted Philip Payne documents and correspondence are shredded for use in product packaging.
  • All Philip Payne company vehicles are hybrid or diesel for maximum MPG.
  • Philip Payne representatives are encouraged to use public transport where possible and practical to do so.
  • All Products are distributed via a national carrier service rather than our own fleet. Production is collected once daily from our Factory in Solihull and sent to a local hub, sorted and forwarded to other regional hubs around the UK.
  • Consignments are collated at the regional hub and placed on vehicles dedicated to a local area and minimising specific journeys.
